London marathon fundraising appeal

On Sunday 21 April 2013, Alan Anstead will run the London marathon to raise funds for Equality. Alan aims to complete the 26.2 mile course in less than three hours.

With increasing numbers of Roma families fleeing poverty, racism and discrimination in Eastern Europe and moving to the UK, Equality's work is as needed and as important as ever. Yet Equality, even as a voluntary organisation with low costs, can only function thanks to the generosity of its supporters.

By running the marathon, Alan hopes to raise money to continue Equality's work on improving access to education for Roma in the UK. Roma living in conditions of poverty often can't afford books and school uniforms. Some are not allowed by government rules to claim benefits, including bus passes for their children to get to school. Many drop out of school. Equality works to increase the attendance and attainment of Roma pupils at all levels of the education system.

Please use Equality's PayPal account to donate. You can pay by credit or debit card, or a PayPal account if you have one. Click the 'Donate' button below to take you to Equality's secure PayPal site. Thank you for considering this appeal.
